David J. Satterthwaite
President and Chief Executive Officer
As Prisma's co-founder, David has built Prisma’s Nicaraguan predecessor since 1995. David is an experienced entrepreneur applying sound managerial acumen to achieving social and financial returns.

For his work with Prisma, David has been recognized with national awards from Fast Company, Hewlett Packard, the National Social Venture Competition, and the Puget Sound Business Journal. David is a regular speaker on the topics of commercial microfinance and social enterprise.

David has sat on the boards of several “social enterprises” including Access Technology Learning Center, a technology and training company increasing workplace productivity of the blind, First Immigrants Funding, a mortgage company in Seattle, Bridges to Business, a job placement and training firm in Boston, and Fonkoze, a micro-lender in Haiti.

He leads MicroCapital, a research initiative on the microfinance emerging asset class.

David graduated with honors from Haverford College with a degree in Political Science. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in "Social Entrepreneurship” at Boston College.


Dr. Kendall Mau
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operational Officer
Kendall joined Prisma in 2002. Kendall is a seasoned financial and human resources executive as well as an International Management Consultant having worked with for-profit and non-profit organizations in the United States, West & East Africa, Central & South America, and former Republics of the Soviet Union. He was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama and Senegal. Kendall's professional experience includes nine years as Vice-President of Finance & Administration of Silicon Valley FCU, a federal credit union with $90M in assets and $60M loan portfolio. Kendall spent eight years working in international finance for Castle & Cooke, an agriculture production company in the Americas, where he rose to Division Head. Since 1996 Kendall has acted as President of Kendall Philip Consulting, an international management consulting firm specializing in micro-financial institution turn-arounds focusing on strategic planning, financial operations analysis, organization & management development, and training needs analysis.

In 1997, Kendall received a doctorate degree in Business Administration from Golden Gate University. Six years earlier, he gained a Certificate of Human Resources Management with Distinction from the University of California Extension. In 1976, Kendall received an MBA, in Operations Research, from the University of Maryland.


Monnie Biety
Examiner
Monnie joined Prisma’s team in 2002. Monnie has more than 17 years of experience auditing and examining credit unions, microfinance institutions, small banks and working with the CAMEL evaluation method. Her professional experience includes ten years as a Principal Examiner at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) where she directly supervised 25 credit unions ranging in assets from $500,000 to $800 million. She also has many years of international consulting experience with World Council of Credit Unions, Canadian Cooperative Association, Asian Development Bank, Freedom from Hunger, ACDI/VOCA and other for profit consulting companies in the areas of small financial institution licensing, operations, and regulation. She works both at the institutional (within the financial institution) level and at the regulatory or Central Bank level. She has been published several times; the latest contribution being 3 chapters to a soon to be released book - Adequate Internal Controls, Assessing Liquidity, and Asset Liability Management.

Monnie holds a BA in Journalism from Creighton University and an MBA from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Monnie is responsible for the CAMEL evaluations of Prisma’s subsidiaries. In addition to her work with Prisma, Monnie consults for numerous microfinance organizations.


U.S. Interns
Interns have joined Prisma from Babson College, Boston College, Dartmouth College, Harvard, MIT, Seattle University, Stanford, U.C. Berkeley, University of Washington, Wellesley College and Wharton. All internships are non-compensated and consist of a virtual working arrangement combined with periodic on-site meetings at Prisma.

Roger Aburto
Co-Founder of Prisma
Prior to co-founding Prisma's predecessor in 1995 and serving as its President, Mr. Aburto was the manager of a regional microcredit fund for eight years. Mr. Aburto's earned a BA in Sociology from the Universidad Centro Americano (UCA) and is currently pursuing his doctorate in education.

Richard Burnes
Principal of Charles River Ventures
Mr. Burnes has decades of business venture experience as a co-founder of the Boston VC firm. He has invested in numerous companies that have gone public. He is also a trustee of Boston's Science Museum and Vice Chairman of the Sea Education Association. Mr. Burnes is a founding board member of Prisma.

George Kraus
Retired Entrepreneur
Mr. Krause has been Founder & CEO of four successful companies, including JBS Associates, a check insurance company for retailers. Mr. Kraus, retired, is involved in Angel investing and supporting humanitarian projects. Mr. Kraus is a founding board member of Prisma.

Matt McConnell
Retired Entrepreneur
Mr. McConnell sold the company he founded, Compatible Systems, to Cisco Systems in 2000. He currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two children. Mr. McConnell joined Prisma's board in 2002.
