Introduction

Microfinance has proven to be a profitable industry.

Microfinance industry growth has traditionally been funded by donations and run by non-profit organizations, which has left most lending institutions with self-imposed barriers. Conversely, Prisma has never sought or accepted donations.

Market Solution to Global Poverty

There is a huge unmet demand for microfinance services and the global tragedy of daily death from poverty demands an innovative solution of new dimensions.

Prisma urges potential investors NOT to make donations to international microfinance. Donations cause damage. "Free" money distorts markets by creating subsidized competition to micro-lenders committed to sustainability. Even worse, organizations working with donations frequently embody irresponsible stewardship by sending the message to borrowers that the micro-loan is actually a gift that does not need to be re-paid.

We cannot continue to rely on international aid to meet the Millennium Goals for 2015 to reduce poverty by half. There is a need to turn to responsible private investment in order to eradicate poverty.

Investor Qualification

Unless you are a high net-worth individual or a specialized investment institution, we strongly recommend that you invest in a microfinance fund, not directly into a micro-lender like Prisma. For a list of these funds and information, please see MicroCapital.

As a U.S. corporation, all of Prisma's investment offerings are private placements compliant with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. Prisma only accepts investment from qualified, accredited institutions and individuals who recognize Prisma’s social mission as a competitive advantage.
